Bolt Blitz is a 2D timed brawler where two players go head to head pitting teams of three tiny robots called Bolts against each other in a fast-paced fight to the last man standing.​

When doing the UI for Bolt Blitz, we as a team decided that we wanted the player's focus to be on their Bolts so all of the most important information had to be conveyed around or on the Bolt itself. As the sprites for the Bolt were rather small and the players still needed to be able to focus on what their opponent was doing, the UI had to utilize the minimal available space.
The challenge for this project was determining what information the player had to have centered around the Bolt and what could be pushed to the corners. After some testing, we saw that the information that mattered in the moment-to-moment gameplay, like health and shield integrity, needed to be centered, while things like player kills and lives remaining could be pushed further out.
